Old School
February 18, 2008So I’ve decided to start blogging again. I just have all these pictures and I want to share them.
Here are a few from a roll of HP5+ I had developed. An older roll I found lying around. I don’t really like the quality that much. Sort of grainy. I would rather develop and print themself, but that’s not really an option right now.
Went home for a few days. Decided to go the park. Not much to do in small towns.
Here is where I eat over-priced, terrible food because I’m forced to be on my universities meal plan. Awesome!
These were from the first few days of school. Back when I was naive and optimistic about college
Sitting in the window sill of my old room.
Looking out the window of her room.
Driving around one night.
That’s it for now. I’ll be uploading more later. Probably digital stuff. I have some kodachrom 64 that is exposed, I’m just not ready to pay for it get developed

to hell with tri-x
July 1, 2007no more tri-x, no more hp5+. That stuff is nothing compared to what I have found. A rare film of fantastic quality

Yes, from now on I will only be shooting polaroid “it’s a girl” film. Commonly found in cheap disposable cameras given to new parents of female babies, this iso 400 color print film has cute, cliche and colorful expressions on borders across the bottom of the frames!
I’m going to search to see if I can buy it in bulk. I love when companies create such timeless and classic photos with their creative girl expressions.

Color landscape
June 14, 2007I’m switching to a more frequent, smaller post format. Comments appreciated.
A shot for iowa today. I just like the exposure, and overall feeling.
A lot of stuff going on. But I’ll report on that later. Thanks to a slow moving river and lack of sunscreen I have sunburn almost to the point of requiring medical attention. Very unpleasant, but at least I don’t work much this week, and don’t work in the studio at all, so I should make it through. I’ll probably regret this when I’m 65 and have skin cancer, but by then I’ll be able to have it removed by a robot surgeon or something

Summer and getting old
June 1, 2007It’s summer. I like summer but I’m looking forward to going to college more.
But i’m starting to feel like an old man. I’m so tired and sore. Last night I went running with a friend of mine at 11:30. Then we all stayed up smoking cigars and talking politics, economics, etc… until at least 1:30 in the morning. Then I head home, go to bed and get up at 5:30. Felt terrible. Went and worked a 5-hour shift at the photolab. It’s an easy job and it pays pretty well. Develop film, print film, develop film, print film.
After I got off work I went out to eat with some friends. I worked on scanning these negs, meet with someone else and took a long nap. But I still feel like shit. Normally afterward I would gulp down a mug of espresso, but since I’m running every night I’m trying to stay healthy.
I’m shooting more than I was before. But my focus is more on investments, stock market, finance and the like.
Now that I some espresso in my hand I feel better.
Last weekend I did photos for some high school graduations and a guy’s senior pictures. Two weddings later on this summer.
Maybe going to Canada later on.
I got 2 rolls developed for $2 at the lab I work at and scanned it. It is so much cheaper than wal-mart
Most of these senior pictures were done in digital. But i’m not going to upload those. These are the film ones.
We drove around random parts of des moines looking for places to shoot. We found this old grain elevator next to some train tracks in a run-down part of town. These people in a tiny, crappy house were looking out the window like they had never seen a camera before. As we were shooting a train actually went by, giving some really cool shots. I might upload some of those digital ones, just because they turned out really well.
Some nice alley light.

This museum has really nice elevators for pictures. They are totally black, with nice reflections and great lighting. But it was closed so we shot outside.
Back home, looking at the sky
Some festive lights
Chest shot? The crop on this came out perfect. But the color is off and I can’t seem to get it right.
Looking out my window. Red blinds kick ass
window reflections, so art
Backyard. I was really happy with the exposure. Detail at the bottom and in the clouds. Lately I’ve been focusing on getting better at exposure and my recent rolls are looking a lot better.
This one came out really nice. Another good exposure.
Icky green tint.
Are these too dark? I just got an LCD and need to calibrate it. These are out of order, back in des moines.
Back home, fire.
Warming up the feet. A harder one to expose.
Art. But I really this one. It means more to me.
Human lines vs. nature lines.
Des moines. out of order.
Adios
Keep shooting
